Hello,
This is Respect Plastic Surgery. :)
Many patients ask us,
"I’ve had forehead reduction surgery before, but I want to shorten my forehead just a little more. Is revision surgery possible?"
Today, we will explain everything you need to know about forehead reduction revision surgery.
▶ What is Forehead Reduction Surgery?
Forehead reduction surgery is a procedure that shortens the height of the forehead to create a more harmonious facial balance.
At Respect Plastic Surgery, our forehead reduction technique minimizes discomfort and visible scarring by reducing the width of the forehead without the need for extensive hair grafts, using our unique 7-point triple fixation technique.
▶ What is Implant Forehead Reduction?
Implant forehead reduction combines forehead shortening surgery with hairline transplantation, maximizing the overall reduction effect.
This option is particularly beneficial for patients with an M-shaped hairline, insufficient hair density at the sides, or an asymmetrical hairline.

A healing period of about 6 months to 1 year is necessary before a second surgery, allowing the skin to regain elasticity so that a further reduction can be safely performed.

Why Waiting Period is Important
▶ After the first surgery, the operated area forms dense scar tissue, making it difficult to move the skin.
→ It takes about 6 months for this area to return to soft, normal skin tissue that is safe to operate on again.
▶ The scalp’s elasticity must also increase after the first surgery.
Immediately after the initial procedure, the scalp is very tight and stretched.
In this condition, further reduction cannot be achieved until sufficient healing occurs.

How Much Can Be Reduced During Revision?
Since this is a second surgery, the reduction amount is smaller than the first surgery.
In most cases, a safe reduction is about half of the initial amount.
Well-performed revisions can achieve 70% of the first reduction, typically around 1.0–1.5cm.
"Reasons for Forehead Reduction Revision"
Desire for further shortening:
Patients who previously had a wide forehead and underwent reduction surgery may want to shorten it even more.
Scar improvement:
If the scar from the previous surgery is visibly noticeable, revision surgery can be considered for aesthetic improvement.
"Is There a Limit to the Number of Revision Surgeries?"
There is no strict limit to how many times revision surgery can be performed,
but we recommend a maximum of two times.
Even if the tissue recovers after the first surgery, the skin cannot be endlessly stretched and tightened.
"Recovery After Revision Surgery"
The recovery time for revision surgery is similar to the first surgery.
Most patients experience minimal swelling that doesn’t extend to the face.
Many can return to work just 2–3 days after surgery.
(For example, having surgery on Friday or Saturday and going back to work by Monday is usually possible.)
Important Notes
Forehead reduction revision surgery is not always possible for everyone.
It can be safely performed 6 months to 1 year after the initial surgery, depending on the patient’s healing process and scalp condition.
Since multiple surgeries cannot be done repeatedly, it is crucial to choose a qualified, experienced clinic to ensure the best and final result.
