Hello,
This is Respect Plastic Surgery :)
After nose surgery, could I have been doing something without even realizing it?
Things like this can actually affect your nose?!
Last time, we shared precautions after nose surgery,
and today we’ll talk about what to watch out for in your daily life after rhinoplasty!
“After nose surgery, I picked my nose and it feels like my nostrils got bigger.”

The natural tissues of the nose usually do not lengthen easily from finger pressure,
unless very strong and consistent pressure is applied every single day.
So, it is uncommon for the overall length of the tissue forming the rim of the nostrils to actually get longer.
However, during the first three months after surgery—when scar tissue is forming and stabilization is happening—
if you pick your nose too often or apply excessive pressure to one side,
especially with habits that press too much on the septum in the middle,
this can cause changes such as bending or shifting of the cartilage or tissues placed during surgery.
“My pet hit my nose after surgery. Should I be worried?”
For those raising pets, this kind of situation can happen and cause concern.
In reality, the chance of the nose collapsing or changing shape from such bumps or hits is not very high.
However, as mentioned before, within the first three months after surgery,
before the nose has fully stabilized, impacts can indeed affect the healing,
so you need to be cautious.
Usually, the force from a small dog or cat is not enough to require revision surgery.
But even after stabilization (6 months to 1 year),
if you hit the bony forehead area of a large dog,
the impact can be strong enough to cause deformation and may require revision surgery.
“I dropped my phone on my nose. Is that a problem?”
It’s very common to accidentally drop your phone on your nose while lying down.
Naturally, many people worry about whether this could affect their nose.
If the phone falls from close range—like the distance you normally read text—
it usually does not apply enough force to cause serious problems.
However, heavier phones or large-screen smartphones
can potentially cause nasal deformation if dropped within the first 3 months after surgery,
before the nose has stabilized.
“Can I wear glasses after nose surgery?”

When silicone is placed in the body, a thin but tough capsule forms around it.
This capsule eventually adheres to the bone underneath, helping the silicone stay firmly in place.
But forming this capsule takes time—it doesn’t happen in just a day or two.
Before it fully forms and attaches, the silicone can still move under small amounts of pressure.
If you absolutely must wear glasses,
it’s best to avoid them for at least 2 to 4 weeks after surgery.
We’ve now shared things to watch out for in your daily life after rhinoplasty!
During the recovery phase, even small stimuli can affect healing,
so you must be extra, extra careful!
